The #StElizabethReese school and parish garden is moving along! All the garden boxes are built and most of the plants have been put in either as a plant or starting seeds. Thank you Mr. Greg for making the boxes and to Ms. LaClair for organizing the garden. We also want to thank Mrs. McNinch for helping us get started and to Janette for the donation of wood for us to build these garden boxes. #StElizabethReese staff had a fabulous workshop day yesterday with Colleen from the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education where they learned new aspects of teaching for the renewal process. Ideas were brainstormed on how to use them in the classroom even before the end of this school year. We cannot wait to include these tools in our teaching for next year! Registration is still open for the 2024-2025 school year! Contact the school office at 989-868-4108 for more information. #soarlikeaneagle #letyourlightshine #OurCatholicSchools #CatholicSchoolDifference #workshopday #renewal
Today, our Preschool, Young 5's and Kindergarten classes graduated! Some students are advancing from 3-year old preschool to 4-year old preschool, some from preschool to Young 5's/Kindergarten and some from Young 5's to Kindergarten, They have accomplished so much this year and learned how to be independent in a new environment. The Kindergarten graduates did a wonderful job with the first reading, psalm and petitions during Mass! After Mass, students, staff and families were able to enjoy fellowship in the Parish Center with snacks and drinks. Not only did the students celebrate their graduation today, but they were able to celebrate their faith in which they have studied all year. This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference. #soarlikeaneagle #letyourlightshine #StElizabethReese #OurCatholicSchools #kindergartengraduation #preschoolgraduation

We made some major progress today on our #schoolgarden thanks to Ms. LaClair, Mr. Greg and Mrs. McNinch who is the Tuscola Conservation District Education Coordinator. Half of the garden boxes are built and some of the plants were put in the ground. Students helped to weed the existing garden boxes and loosen the soil to prepare it for planting tomorrow or the rest of the week. We can't wait to see what comes next and all the fruits of our labor! #soarlikeaneagle #letyourlightshine #StElizabethReese #OurCatholicSchools #CatholicSchoolDifference #gardening

What do you know about geography, bodies of water and land types? If you don't know or aren't sure, our first and second graders can help you out! The students learned about capes, straits, peninsulas, bays, archipelagos, lagoons, gulfs, lakes and more using play-doh to create each type when one was drawn on the board. Each student created theirs a bit different but with the same land/water combination. There is nothing like #handsonlearning. #soarlikeaneagle #letyourlightshine #StElizabethReese #OurCatholicSchools #CatholicSchoolDifference #geography
