Talk about a busy day today for #CSW24! #StElizabethReese students started the day with a flag raising ceremony to honor our veterans and service members by praying and singing the national anthem and "God Bless America." Mass was then celebrated with Bishop Gruss and Father Andy. Games and snacks followed Mass where the students split into two teams with Bishop Gruss and Father Andy as the leaders playing Reverse Charades. Of course Coco had to participate too! Students will also be singing the national anthems before the Saginaw Spirit hockey game tonight! Today's Gospel reading was Mark 1:14-20 which was about Jesus going to the Sea of Galilee and calling Andrew, Simon, James and John to follow him and become "fishers of men." At #FaithFriday this week, students at #StElizabethReese played a trivia game based on basic Catholicism questions and on this Gospel reading. Each fish had a question to answer and teams were able to keep the fish if they answered the question correctly after listening to the #Scripture. This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference.
Learning is "snow" much fun in Preschool, especially when learning about arctic animals like penguins and polar bears! Students painted their own polar bear and added cotton ball bellies to their penguins. They are learning all kinds of facts about the animals and will gladly share the information they have learned!
January 6 is the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, the day we remember the Magi visiting the child Jesus. One tradition for this day is to mark the doorposts with blessed chalk. Father Andy and the students blessed each of the classroom doors and the front door this morning following this tradition. This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference!
