The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is known as Giving Tuesday. At St. Elizabeth, we are giving back through our "Penny War" coin drive. Students are being challenged in a penny war to compete against each other to raise money for a local family in need after a fire destroyed their home. This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference.
In honor of the Feast day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary today, #StElizabethReese students made flowers and baked bread for a display of our patron saint. We also held a special Mass in celebration where students and staff participated in the ministries. For #FaithFriday, students brainstormed what is true, good and beautiful about St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the Bible, God and Jesus.
Students were greeted this morning with some "strangers" at the entrance of the school! They were none other than our Diocesan Seminarians cutouts! We kicked off #VocationsAwarenessWeek with the cutouts at the entrance of the school, special prayers for students to say all week in their classrooms, and the classrooms adopting a seminarian This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference. Each classroom has picked a Seminarian to adopt! Letters and cards will be sent. Videos and photos will be taken to support them and encourage them in their studies and during the holidays. Prayers will be said for them. Individual classrooms will decide what all they want to do for their person which will be fun to see their creativity and uniqueness!
With the new marking period starting, we are incorporating more prayer and meditation into the day for the students. After recess students and staff gather at the cross to pray the Angelus together. Moving forward, students will be leading the prayer either as a class or individually to help learn the prayer and practice speaking in front of people. This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference
