It’s the first day of fall, and students here at #StElizabethReese are Autumn by coloring and cutting out leaves with Bible verses on them.
The younger grades have already completed their lessons on apples and the letter "A" where they learned other things about fall and nature.
We’re sure they’ll “fall” in love with the season... and with learning!

Third & Fourth grade science is learning about energy.
Last week, they started learning about motion energy by rolling a marble down a tube into other marbles. Students predicted what would happen, tested what happens when the tube is at different distances and angles, and made observations.
Isn't science cool?!

Thursday was a beautiful day for an outdoor field trip!
The 3rd-5th graders went to Project R.E.D. at the Tuscola County Fairgrounds to learn all about agriculture, farming, pollination, gardening/plants, animals and much more! They even milked a cow using a simulation cow.
There is nothing like #HandsOnLearning!

The 6th-8th grade students completed a research project on the Seven Sorrows and presented them to the school during afternoon prayer. For each of the Seven Sorrows, students had to find the corresponding Bible verse, any sacred art or picture of the Sorrow and provide information on the background of the Sorrow.
The Church dedicates the month of September to Our Lady of Sorrows, also known as Mater Dolorosa (Mother of Sorrows). This devotion recalls the Blessed Virgin Mary’s spiritual martyrdom in virtue of her perfect union with the Passion of Christ. This was her role in salvation history, and what merited her place as the spiritual Mother of all Christians. This is symbolized by a single sword, or seven swords, piercing Mary's suffering heart, as foretold in Simeon's prophecy. Traditionally the Church meditates on the "Seven Sorrows" of our Blessed Mother: the prophecy of Simeon; the Holy Family's flight into Egypt; the loss of the Child Jesus for three days; the meeting of Mary and Jesus as he carried his cross; Jesus' crucifixion and death; Jesus' sacred body taken down from the cross; and Jesus' burial. The feast of Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) is September 15th.

It's #ConstitutionDay so the #StElizabethReese students and staff played a game of Kahoot with Constitution Day trivia!
Questions were asked like "How many years is a Senator's term?" and "Who is the head of the Executive Branch?" or "Who is the current President?"
Congrats to our #topthree winners!

Some of our grades are using a curriculum from Memoria Press that incompasses a Classical Education model. The Kindergarten materials came with a Book of Crafts and the students did a wonderful job creating a tree from construction paper and tissue paper as one of their crafts.
Kindergarten through 2nd graders also listened to Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, op.68 named "Pastoral" then were asked to draw a picture of what they felt and thought of while listening. They are some proud artists! We are so grateful for our liberal arts education model through the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education.

Some friends enjoyed the treats and others had just a trial bite to see if they liked it. Life is all about experiencing new things and the students are learning just that at #StElizabethReese.

#StElizabethReese is Centered in Christ and Committed to Excellence. That means we begin our school year with the Blessing of the Backpacks, school Mass and prayer. We thank God for the blessings he has given us, and we pray for his guidance and favor on our school family. Students attend Mass twice a week, go to Adoration once a week, pray the rosary weekly in October and May, pray the Stations of the Cross every week during Lent, pray the Angelus daily at noon and start each school day with prayers written by students.
This is the #CatholicSchoolDifference.

Thank you to our #StElizabethReese Home & School Association for purchasing Great Adventure Bibles for the 6-8 grade class to use while they do the Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz through Ascension. The students will be able to keep the Bibles and use them the rest of their lives.

It’s the first day of school here at #StElizabethReese! We have so many exciting things planned for this year. It’s going to be great!
Students and families started the day with breakfast followed by a walk around the campus while praying the rosary. While the rosary was being said, Miraculous Medals were buried around campus to consecrate the school to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We asked for blessings upon our school, teachers, students and families for a great year and future of #StElizabethReese.
At the end of the school day, students enjoyed a cake with the theme for the year on it, along with watermelon and time outside in nature. Some students picked produce out of the garden, others played on the playground and some opened the new Spikeball game to play (Thank you Home & School Association for this!). It was a wonderful first day!

New curriculum materials and textbooks are here!
Our Teachers ordered a new Classical curriculum from Memoria Press to use this year at all grade levels. We saw these items while at the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education National Conference this summer and were impressed!
They are so excited about this school year, the new knowledge the students will learn and how much we will all grow together.
Make sure to check back throughout the school year to see what each grade level is doing, learning and experiencing through this new curriculum.

#StElizabethReese welcomes a new pastor, Fr. Josepaul Pasala to our Eagle family!
My name is Fr. Josepaul, and I am delighted to share a glimpse of my life and journey with you.
I was born on September 18, 1985, into a loving and supportive family. My father, Philips, and my mother, Rajamma, have always been my pillars of strength. I have a sister, Swarnalath, who is married to Ravi Kumar, and they have a beautiful daughter named Jessica. My younger brother, Sandeep, is married to Priyanka, and they are blessed with two wonderful children, Varun and Enoch.
In my free time, I enjoy listening music, collecting postal stamps, and driving cars. These hobbies allow me to relax and rejuvenate, providing a balance to my spiritual and professional life. Additionally, I have a passion for sports, particularly badminton and volleyball, which keep me physically active and socially engaged.
My ultimate spiritual weapons are praying the rosary, praying the divine mercy chaplet, and celebrating the holy Eucharist. These practices are the core of my spiritual life, and without them, I am no more. They provide me with strength, guidance, and a deep connection to my faith.
I am profoundly grateful to Cardinal Poola Anthony, Bishop Robert Gruss, Msgr. Fr. Bill, for their unwavering support in making this dream a reality. Their encouragement and guidance have been instrumental in my journey. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the meticulous paperwork process that facilitated my arrival.
